Balance Psychological Services is proud to sponsor "Hoofing for Hope," an innovative mental health awareness campaign for federal correctional officers. This extraordinary initiative involves a horseback journey across Alberta's correctional institutions, covering 335 km of riding and 1,316 km of driving. Starting from Grande Cache and concluding at Edmonton Institution, this unique program brings horses to correctional facilities, creating opportunities for officers to connect, share experiences, and engage in meaningful conversations about mental health.

The journey includes visits to multiple institutions including Edmonton Institution for Women, Grierson Institution, Drumheller Institution, Bowden Institution, and Pe Sakastew, fostering relationships and raising awareness within our correctional community. As First Responder mental health advocates, we're honoured to support this impactful initiative that runs throughout the month of June 2025.

Infographic about the benefits of Play Therapy.

At Balance Psychological, we believe in the power of play. Play therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses play to help children express their feelings, understand their experiences, and learn new coping skills. This approach is gentle, respectful, and incredibly effective.

It can be beneficial for children dealing with a variety of issues such as anxiety, ADHD, trauma, behavioural problems, and difficulties with social skills. If your child is struggling with emotional or behavioural issues, consider play therapy.
